Weekly Update Oct. 30 - Nov. 3 | School Council, School Messager, Athletics, Dates of Significance

Dear ABE Families, Guardians and Students,

Here is some information for the week ahead:

School Council & FOA Parent Society – Monday, October 30

  • Our second meeting will be this Monday, October 30 at 7pm in the ABE Learning Commons.
  • We will be testing streaming the meeting at ABE School Council & FOA Meeting Link with a goal of doing hybrid in-person / online meetings in future. Parents interested in attending online should please use this link, but please be patient as we will be working out technical issues!
  • One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council.

Guidance and Scholarships

  • Post Secondary Sessions - add any week session here:
  • Scholarship Update - Please click the link and/or visit the ABE Website under scholarships to see the updated information. Note the upcoming due dates. There will also be information on the bulletin board outside of the office.

School Messenger and Commerical Messages

  • Most school messages, like this one, are sent to parents through School Messenger. It’s a mass communication tool that allows schools to easily and securely send emails or phone calls to parents/guardians of students in a particular grade, class, school or area. Messages are sent to the parent contacts on file.
  • Commerical School Messages - These messages are slightly different in that they involve school topics such as student fees, picture days, field trips, grad portraits or essentially anything “commercial” in nature. For example: If you did not receive notification of Grad portraits sittings, this could be because of not subcribing to Commercial School Messages.
  • You can subscribe to these commercial messages by clicking this link - Subscribe Online which will take you to School Messenger (our mass communication tool) .

  • Finally, If your contact information changes or needs updating, please contact the school directly and then subscribe online again, if your email address changes

Athletics Update

  • Cross Country City - Senior Girls are City Champs! Click here for individual results. At provincials championships, ABE Cross Country placed second in provincials. No other Calgary school was in the top 5. Great job ABE Cross Country!!
  • Girls Soccer – Playing in Semi Finals - Click to view playoff schedule - Come out and support ABE Girls.
  • Jr Football – Playing in Semi Finals – Click to view playoff schedule - Come out and support ABE Jr Football.
  • Sr Football – Showed a ton of heart playing in Div 1 football this year
