January diploma exams are cancelled:

  • Students who choose not to write at a later date will receive their school-awarded mark as their final official course mark
  • Students may choose to write January diploma exams in April or June 2026

Alberta Education directs the Grade 12 Diploma Examinations Program.

Diploma exams are available for the following courses:

  • Chemistry 30
  • English Language Arts 30–1
  • English Language Arts 30–2
  • Français 30–1
  • French Language Arts 30–1
  • Mathematics 30–1
  • Mathematics 30–2
  • Physics 30
  • Science 30
  • Social Studies 30–1
  • Social Studies 30–2

June Exam Schedule and Reminders

June 11 - 25 - In addition to supervising the diploma and non diploma exams listed below, ABE is offering students the following:

June 10:         Last day of regularly scheduled high school classes for Grade 10-12

June 11 - 25: Diploma and non-diploma exam schedule

June 11-18: Targeted support, assistance, or intervention. Individual targeted credit recovery for students who have not yet met essential course outcomes & are at risk of not receiving credit.  

When not supervising exams, teachers will prioritize opportunities for continued learning & reassessment for students. Teachers proactively reach out to all students to inform them of these opportunities.

Note: Teachers are available to provide above supports when they are not supervising exams. Teachers will communicate their individual support schedules with students.

BRING:

  • Valid Photo ID (WAHS student ID card or driver's license)
  • Pen and HB pencil with good eraser, ideally mechanical
  • Approved calculator for Math & Science exams
  • Bottled water in clear plastic bottle with labels removed
  • Light snacks – remove from original packaging & bring in clear plastic bag
  • Comfortable clothing: Remember that coats are NOT allowed. Wear a sweater if you get cold easily.
  • Bottled water and/or food item in a clear container such as Tupperware or a clear bag. Please no nuts or nut products.

DO NOT BRING:

  • Purses, backpacks, and bags. Leave these at home or secured in your locker or vehicle.
  • Jackets & caps/headwear. Leave in your locker or vehicle.
  • Calculator cases and covers
  • Take-out food/meals (pizza, meals, etc.)

Personal Electronic Devices

Prohibited Items in a Diploma Exam: According to Alberta Education having the following objects on your person during a Diploma examination is prohibited and could result in having a student’s Diploma mark invalidated (score of zero on the exam).

Prohibited electronic devices include:

  • Cellphones
  • Digital Audio Players
  • Smart watches
  • WI-FI capable head phones
  • Electronic organizers
  • Hand-held electronic dictionaries
  • Any other portable electronic devices
  • French/English print dictionary
  • French/English print thesaurus
  • Exam supervisors will clear calculators as students enter and exit the exam. All calculators will be cleared back to original factory settings, free of any extraneous programs or built in notes.
  • DO NOT bring your calculator cover. Leave it in your locker or at home

Please leave all of the above electronic items in your locker or at home during exam time.
